Mighty Media Group, Inc., formerly First Ventures Capital Partners, Inc. and including several previous entities, has enjoyed a successful run in broadcasting for over 25 years. The company’s history of “Greatest Hits” includes ownership and operation of almost 100 FM and AM stations and FM Translators It also includes the design and construction of numerous broadcast towers and studios, the launch of a satellite radio network, the authorship of patented spectrum maximization software, and the creation of almost two dozen major market FM stations using a complex proprietary small market station reimagining process.

Origins.

Mighty Media Group traces its broadcast origins to the 1993 acquisition of KSFO and KYA FM San Francisco. After revitalizing the stations, slashing costs, marketing aggressively and switching the KSFO format from music to talk, the company profitably sold KSFO to ABC (now Cumulus) and KYA FM to what is now Entercom.

Satellite Network.

The company then launched a new 24/7 national satellite radio network debuting a new format by their programming guru Bill Drake. While “Rock & Roldies” was successful in Dallas on company-owned KNKI 96.7 and the learning process was invaluable, the national launch sputtered and the project was quickly shelved.

Station Development.

The team then concentrated its energies into radio station development and became the nation’s leading creator of new major market FM stations. Mighty Media Group reengineered and relocated distant small market FM stations to large metro areas. The company institutionalized this complex process which included acquiring small market stations, negotiating conditional FM spectrum rights agreements, creating complex FM spectrum reallocation proposals and navigating through the difficult FCC approval process.

Tower Construction.

Broadcast studio installation, broadcast tower design and construction requiring land rezoning were also often part of each project. In order to facilitate the company creation of three new FM stations brought into Dallas (96.7 FM, 101.7 FM and 106.7 FM), the Mighty Media Group team designed and built one of the largest and tallest candelabra radio station towers in the country. This unique three bay design is almost double the height of the Eiffel Tower and can now host up to six full power FM stations as well as numerous cellphone and other communications signals.

Patented Software.

As part of  the company’s efforts to lead the country in new FM station development, the Mighty Media Group team created SpectraMax radio spectrum analysis software and was granted six patents for its efforts. This exclusive software maximized the efficiency and reach of radio spectrum in each market and contributed to the creation of well over a dozen new FM stations in major markets across the country including Dallas, Sacramento and Atlanta.

In-House Brokerage.

Mighty Media Group’s in-house sales and marketing group bypassed third party radio station brokers and sold directly to radio group buyers. These transactions included deals with the majority of the publicly-traded national radio groups including ABC, Entravision and Clear Channel (now iHeartMedia).

Recent Sales.

Over the last several years Mighty Media Group purchased, relocated and ultimately sold over 70 FM Translators located in 50 different markets across most of the country. In the fall of 2018 the company recently concluded sales of its last AM/FM group, a six station cluster in Memphis which included Country Legends 95.3 FM “The Rebel” and Memphis Greatest Hits 97.7 Guess FM.  The last FM Translator was sold in May 2020.
